In December 2010, Amber Heard “came out” to the crowd at the 25th anniversary celebration for GLAAD (The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation). She was in a relationship with photographer Tasya van Ree from 2008-2011.

She has a golden teacup named Pistol, a reference to her love of guns.

Heard became an atheist following the death of a friend when she was 17. She subsequently got into the writings of Ayn Rand and George Orwell.

She is said to be good friends with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
